There's No Place Like Home...and a Giveaway

So I am home from vacation and was suppose to be going to a Common Core Workshop for the next 4 days, however plans have changed. On our drive home yesterday, my little girl became very cranky. I checked her and noticed that she had a fever. Oh boy, that was long drive from Georgia to South Florida! When we finally got in, I was able to take her temperature which fluctuated between 100 and 101. So, I'm staying home with her and hopefully can get things done around the house and finish up some units that I started on my trip. (We'll see how that goes.)

Anyways, a former co-worker of mine who just moved back to Buffalo is having a 100+ Follower Giveaway. Hello, Cindy! (Insert wave here.) Check out her blog Primary Reading Party.

I have donated my unit of Homophones for her Giveaway. You can also check it out in my TPT store by clicking below.

Have a Marvelous Monday everyone!

My Little Twinkle Toes

So today was my little ones first day of dance class. She was very excited and couldn't wait to put on her new leotard and dance shoes. When we got there she was acting very shy, which is totally not normal for her. She usually says hello to everyone and blows them kisses. She clung to my legs while we waited for her teacher to come get them. There was another little girl from her class waiting with us who quickly came over to play with her. She was still acting shy but then started to warm up. Her teacher came to get them and they went to their classroom. We aren't allowed in the rooms and can sit in the parent room and view them on the TV. Let me tell you, I don't know how her teacher does it, but I would definitely need a nap after teaching that class. There are only 4 girls in her class because of the summer and she was constantly chasing after one of them. We were all laughing at them in the parent room. B was so funny. At first, she didn't know what to do but then realized that she needed to listen. Watching them try to hop was the cutest thing. Hopefully next time I will be able to get better pictures. Here are a few from after the class today.

B waving to everyone as they were leaving.

B playing with the dinosaurs for the brothers that wait.

B giving me the "enough with the pictures" mom look.

I did get some pictures with the other girls in her class, which are darling but I won't be posting them on here since I'm sure the parents might not like it. Anyways, enough of me babbling on about B's First Dance class. I just had to share with you all.

In other news, I am almost to 100 followers. Yippee! Which means that I will be having a giveaway once I reach it. I have been creating new things and can't wait to share. Don't forget to stop by my co-worker, Lori's blog (Teaching with Love and Laughter), who is having a 500 follower giveaway. I have donated my new, improved "Pop! Sight Word Game" which has 6 different levels for differentiation. You can also purchase it in my TPT store.

It's Summer Time!

Well, I have finally made it to summer vacation. I'm doing the happy dance because it is finally here. However, I didn't get my room completely packed today and have to go back Monday morning to finish. I only have a few odds and ends to pack up. I didn't get to take pictures of my room today, but here are a few from my library. I started to reogranize my library and started inputing my books into Booksource. Here is 2 of my shelves:

I had to place all of the books onto the shelves and have as much possible off of the tops. I removed all of my labels from the books, as I am going to be redoing the whole library. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I am going to do. Any suggestions?

Earlier this week as I was beginning to pack up my room, my students were playing review games. As I was orgnaizing, I was watching them play a sight words review game that I made several years ago using popcorn. I found these cute plastic popcorn buckets in the Target Dollar section. (You know you all check that area everytime you go there!) It's always my first stop. I picked up several one them and than began thinking of how I could use them in the classroom. I quickly thought of this popcorn clipart I saw on the Mailbox website. I bought them and then came home and thought and thought and thought about what literacy activity I could make with it. This is where "POP! Sight Word Game" was born. My students love it! It's very simple to play. Students place the sight word popcorn cards into the box. They take turns pulling out a popcorn card and reading it. If they read the word correctly, they keep the card. If they read it incorrectly, they place the card back into the bucket. If they pull out a "POP!" card, they place all of their cards back into the bucket. Below is a picture of the original game:

Notice the two different colored cards in the bags. Those are two different sets for differentiated instruction. I actually had 6 different sets. Well, after watching my students play the game, I thought that I needed to do a little revamp of the game. So, I am pleased to present the New and Improved POP! Sight Word Game. Click on the picture to go to my TPT store.

I hope your students enjoy it as much as mine do!
