Happy Almost New Year Everyone!

I can't believe it will be 2015 in about 6 hours. I'm doing this a little early as I'm sure I will be busy tomorrow. I LOVE linking up with Farley. (Click here to check out others and link up.) I enjoy getting to learn a little about everyone. Don't you?

Listening: "Vanilla Ice Project" on the DIY Channel. I find it very interesting. I guess it's because it's all located about 40 minutes north of me.

Loving: My hubs is also a teacher so we are both off at the same time. We are enjoying spending time together with our beautiful 4 year old girl.

Thinking: I have to make the dip for the party tonight. I'm making a Buffalo Chicken Dip and a "Trailer Trash" Dip (Chili Cheese Dip). Both are super yummy and simple to make.

Wanting: We are in the process of finding a bigger house. We don't mind fixing up a place. We just need to find one that we like and that we don't get out bid.

Needing: I need to get back into blogging more and creating more. I really MISS it. I took some time off and would post every now and then. I'm definitely going to be blogging more regular.

Yes: I need to loss weight and I am determined to do it. I'll be blogging about it and hope that maybe others can hold me accountable along this journey.

Maybe: I want to try new recipes and step out of my comfort zone.

I wish: I really wish to go to the I Teach K Conference this summer. It all depends on finances with getting a new house. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to go.

Can't wait to read your currently and hear your comments.

Native American Craftivity

Wow! I haven't posted in awhile. School and life have finally slowed down. I don't know about all of you, but the first couple months always seem so hectic. I don't know if it's just trying to get my Kinders into the routine of things. This year has definitely  been one of the more challenging years for me and I have been at this for 10 years. Well, I can't believe that it is already November. Does anyone else feel this way?

This is one of my favorite times of the year. I LOVE the holiday traditions that happen over the next few months. We have started learning about Thanksgiving this past week in our class. This past week, we learned about Native Americans. Many of my students didn't know what a Native American was this year, which I was shocked. At least in the past, they knew a little bit about Native Americans. So, we learned a lot this past week. I wanted to share with you our super cute Native American craftivity that we made.

(I don't know why one is crying. LOL)

I love how cute these came out. My boys and girls had so much fun making these. They enjoyed being able to create their own pattern on the headbands. Many of my students have come a long way with their fine motor skills. By doing these craftivities, my students have improved on their scissor skills and tracing skills. You can get the patterns to make these cute Native Americans by clicking here

I hope ya'll are enjoying the rest of your weekend. It's raining here, so I am off to play with my little darling (who now wants to make one of here own...hehe) and some things around the house.

Stitch Fix #4

So, I got my September Fix and was SUPER excited. Before I share my fix, let me take sometime to explain what Stitch Fix is.

Stitch Fix is a personal shopping/styling service. You fill out a personal style profile, answer some questions, and then for $20.00 a personal stylist picks 5 items for each fix and sends them to the comfort of your home. The stylist looks at your style preferences, size, and any recommendations into consideration. You can make recommendations for special events, such as, a wedding, vacation, etc. on upcoming fixes. With each fix, they send you styling guides to help you pair the items sent up with things that you might already have. After you try on the items that they sent, you log into your account and decide whether or not you are going to keep them or send them back at check out. If you decide to keep anything, the $20 styling fee will be credited towards your purchase. If you choose to keep all of the items, a 25% discount will be applied to your purchase. Any items that you decide not to keep, just simply place them into the prepaid envelope and mail out. It's that simple!

With this fix, I don't have pictures of myself trying on the outfits. I had caught a stomach bug earlier in the week and although I was over it, I just didn't feel up to having my picture taken. I did take pictures of the clothes and will tell you about each item. I opened the box and took out my fix.

Look how nicely wrapped my fix was. I slowly unwrapped the tissue paper to reveal my fix.
I see potential. I saw chevron in my favorite colors, a lovely pink shirt, a necklace, and a pair of pants. I then took out the styling cards and tore them apart. Every fix comes with styling cards. These are suggests from your stylist on what they think would look good with each item. I began looking through my closet to see if I had any of these suggestions. Here are my styling cards and my note from my stylist.

3 out of the 4 cards suggested to pair the tops with the jeans in my fix. The necklace had a card but it was blank so I didn't take a picture of it. After I was able to pair up each item with something from my closet or within in the fix, I tried them on. I'll fill you in on how each idea was after each picture.

First up was the Chevron Tank.

I LOVED the colors, the pattern, and even that it was a tank. See I live in South Florida and it is HOT. This shirt would be perfect for to wear down here. I LOVED everything about it until I tried it on. It was tight around the chest. It still looked okay, but I just wasn't comfortable in it.

Next up was the Pink Shirt.
I LOVED the color. Pink looks good on me. I tried it on with the jeans that were in the fix. I thought the shirt fit pretty well. My husband said that it looked like I had an apron on. LOL! Men! Don't they understand anything about style. LOL! After his statement, I looked at it anything and even though it fit very well and I liked it. I wasn't comfortable with the fact that the back was pretty shear. I definitely couldn't wear this at work. I wouldn't feel comfortable with my students seeing my bra.

I then tried on the jeans, the white short sleeved cardigan, and the necklace from the fix.

I paired these items with a pink tank that I had. I LOVED how the jeans felt on. They are a skinny jean and at first I was a little weary about them. Well, there was nothing to be weary about. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE them! They fit great and are the perfect length. The white short sleeved cardigan was also a perfect match. It is very light weight which is ideal for South Florida weather and I can easily pair it with anything. The necklace, however, I was not a fan of. It definitely was not my style. Don't get me wrong! I LOVE accessories, but this was not me.

Overall, I was pretty happy with my fix. I kept 2 out of the 5 items. What did you think about my fix? Let me know. Even tell me about yours if you are receiving them. I would love to hear from you.

Origami Owl Lanyard

Have you heard of Origami Owl? Well, I hadn't either until a few months ago when a good friend of mine introduced me to it. I bought my first locket then and was hooked. Here is what my locket looks like.
I bought the locket with the rhinestones around it. You can get it plain and in different colors and sizes. I then started to fill my locket with little charms. There are so many to choose from. I got a princess crown for my daughter, plus her birthstone. I got a cross, a heart to represent my husband, an apple, and Mom in turquoise. Here are a few pictures of the charms I got.

After making my first locket, I then added to my collection this new lanyard. I am absolutely obsessed with this lanyard. It is so sturdy and perfect for work.

There are 2 different versions of the lanyard. There is one that you can't add charms to, but is still beautiful and then there is the one where you can add charms. I choose to get the one with the charms. It's a twist on face locket. I choose the white rhinestone option, but I can always get a plain twist top and switch it out. The charms I choose for my lanyard are all school related. I picked out the stack of books, a school bus, and pencil. I'm going to add my silver apple to it as well. Isn't it the cutest? I LOVE the quality. You can check out the lanyard collection by clicking on the picture below. Oh yeah, they even have holiday charms! I'm definitely going to get a few to add to my collection for the holidays. (If you do order, please tell them that I referred you. Thanks.)
Let me know what you think.

September Currently

I can't believe that it is September already. Well, you know what that means right? It's CURRENTLY time! I've linked up with Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade again. Click on the link to check out all the other wonderful bloggers who are linking up.
Listening- I'm a sucker for these shows. Ha! This one always makes me giggle. I'm a Southern Gal at heart and LOVE seeing others try to understand the traditions. Plus, Jaime's personality is awesome.

Loving- Yup, school just started for me 2 weeks ago and I went on a mini vacay this weekend. We didn't go very far just a few hours north to Disney World.

Thinking- Open House is on Wednesday and I have SO much to do. (Going out of town this weekend didn't help. )

Wanting- I really, really, really want to go to the Florida Kindergarten Conference in Orlando in November. Deanna Jump will be presenting. I'm trying to figure out if I can go and if my new principal will allow me to take days off to go. I haven't been able to read her well yet, so I have to figure out how to ask. Any tips?

Needing- I really need to get back to the gym. The past few weeks have been quite hectic. I've had so much to do after school that it's been put on the back burner.

3 Trips- These 3 places have always been places that I want to go. I want to take an Alaskan cruise and then travel by train north to Fairbanks. Ireland and England are where my family is from.  There are so many more, but those are just a few.

I hope you all link up to. I would love to find out more about you all.

Well, today was our First Day of School and what better way to celebrate than linking up with Blog Hoppin. It's Teacher Week!

Today is "Tell us all about you".

My name is Cara. I just turned 33 yesterday. I live in South Florida, where it is hot ALL year round. LOL I live about 20 minutes from the beach and rarely go to it (I would much rather live near the mountains). I live 5 minutes from the Everglades, where I see plenty of gators.

I have a beautiful 4 year old little girl and an amazing husband, whom is also a teacher.

Favorite Things:

I absolutely LOVE me some VOLS. I am a big fan and ready for football season to begin.
I am a Vera Bradley fanatic. I have over 25 bags.
I LOVE Disney World.
I LOVE pugs. I had one for many years, but she passed away several years ago. I can't wait to get another one.
I also like Slurpees, good Southern BBQ, crafting, and making hair bows (I have a small side business).

Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me a little better. Here's the schedule for the rest of the week.

Summer Is Almost Over- So Sad!

Well, my summer has surely passed by quickly. Last week, I was looking at this:

We took a long weekend getaway to Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Each morning, I would get up and head out to the beach for a sunrise morning walk. Awe, peaceful! Ironically, I live about 20 minutes away from the beach and hardly ever go to that beach. Ha, imagine that! Well, tomorrow it is back to reality, as I will be sitting in PD for the next 3 days. Our Charter School Company does this every year. All of our sister schools in the area gather for PD together, followed by a luncheon on Friday at a local hotel. Then next week, we head back to our campuses and begin working on our rooms and having meetings. I'll have 4 DAYS to setup my room before Meet N Greet. Yup, I said 4 DAYS!!!! I'm going to blog about if I will be able to get it all done. Can you see the sweat pouring down my face right now? I sure can feel it.

Besides making my new clip chart, word wall letters, etc., I have been busy creating for my students. First up, I wanted to revamp something that I started creating towards the end of the year for my students. My students needed more work on building sentences and handwriting. So, what better way than making something that they can practice while also manipulating. Below is the old version.
In this version, my students had to read the sentence, write the sentence, cut apart and glue the sentence, and illustrate the sentence. Isn't my students illustration adorable! I LOVE the sunglasses and sweat coming off of him. Ha! Now, I started to revamp and added tracing to the sheet. Here is the new revamped version.
This time they read and trace the sentence, write the sentence, cut and build the sentence, and finally illustrate the sentence. Sorry, my illustration isn't as cute a students would be. I'll have to work on my details.

As I was making the new pages, I thought why don't I make some where they practice building words as well. So I created one.
My students will read the word, trace the word, write the word 3 times, illustrate the word, and build the word. This will be perfect for my Word Work Station in Daily 5. I can't wait to revamp my other ones and make more seasonal versions. You can pick up the whole set and get a FREEBIE of it at my TPT store.
While I finished up that project, I also decided to make a new "All About Me" craftivity. I wanted to make something cute and looked like a backpack. My brain got to cranking and I came up with this.
I LOVE it! Isn't it ADORABLE! I can't wait to see what color combinations my students come up with. I chose a teal and pink construction paper combo for my backpack.
Then I printed out on card stock the items that go inside the backpack pocket.
First up is the birthday cake. They color their birthday cake and then add their age circle to the center of the cake. On the crayon, they write their favorite color and color their crayon that color.
On the lunch bag, they draw their favorite food. In the photo frame, they draw a picture of themselves on the First Day of School. These are so simple to make. I can't say it enough about how much I LOVE them. You can pick up all of the things you need to make these.

Oh yeah, did you know that there is a SALE going on! I have already bought several items and am going to go back for more. Stop back later to see what I bought and I would LOVE to hear about the things that you snagged.

Well folks, I am off to the gym and then going to run some errands. I'm going to hit up Dollar Tree for paper tray bins like Greg's over at Smedley's Smorgasboard. I'm sure I will get other things as well. Have a great day everyone!
